Ever the supporter of the causes of war veterans and victims, Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe lend his voice and support to Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) Trust’s The Legacy of Hope. Dan narrated HMD’s 2010: The Legacy of Hope educational film, which aims to remind us the plight of those who died and survived the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration camp (during World War II) and share their “Legacy of Hope”.
In this short film, three Holocaust survivors tell their tale of survival during one of modern history’s most brutal waste of human life. They recall their experiences inside the concentration camp and during its liberation.
This film was made in part of the 100 days countdown to the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. On 27 January 2010, thousands of people across the UK will celebrate this event in their communities and schools.
HMD is asking you to become part of this historical event. To know more on how you can be involved, click on the link above to be taken to their website.

Update: DanRadcliffe.com has put up a statement of Dan regarding his involvement with HMD’s The Legacy of Hope.
“When I was approached to narrate this short film, The Legacy of Hope, I felt very privileged. I felt that in a very small way I was contributing to the remembrance of these tragic and horrendous events, whilst also commemorating all those people who refused to let the horrors they had lived through dictate the tone of the rest of their lives.
“The surest shield we have against future atrocities is our knowledge and our emotional understanding of what has happened in the past. The chance to help the vital work done by the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust could not be turned down.”
