In a new interview by the Chicago Tribune, RDR publisher Roger Rapoport speaks out regarding the trial of the Harry Potter Lexicon. According to Mr. Rapoport, he was never intimidated when he received the threatening letters from the lawyers of JK Rowling and WB. He also reacted to the apparent peace offering made by author Jk Rowling at court (when she mentioned that she never wanted to stop Mr. Vander Ark in making his own guide book) saying, “That opportunity was never presented to us. The only thing they said [in the lawyer letters and pretrial discussions] was: ‘Will you stop the book?’”

“I couldn’t understand why this book hadn’t been published yet. After all, Rowling herself had endorsed the Web site in 2004, giving it an award as “a great site” which, while writing, she occasionally used to check facts from her earlier books.”

As for his message to other small time publisher who may have the same situation in the future,”My message to anybody who gets this kind of demand letter is: You don’t have to worry.”

The same thing can be said thought to HP Lexicon head writer Steven Vander Ark. He has not only alienated himself with JK Rowling but has also gotten thousands of nasty emails from Harry Potter fans who sided themselves with the author. According to Mr. Vander Ark,”It was disheartening how quickly people were more than happy to turn on me.”

With only a few weeks before filming ends, we have learned today that Tony Coburn was cast as the young Lucius Malfoy in the upcoming Potter film, The Half- Blood Prince. He has already shot his scenes on where he appear in a dinner scene with Prof. Slughorn and was an extra during the Dumbeldore’s death. Thanks to Bloghogwarts.com (with translation from The Leaky Cauldron), here is a short interview they have conducted with the actor.

BlogHogwarts: Have you read any of the Harry Potter books before getting the role?
Tom Coburn: I hadn’t seen any films before or read any books UNTIL i got the role and thought I should watch how Malfoy is and I saw Order of the Phoenix to get an idea of his character. I didnt even need to audition cos they said i looked very much like Jason Isaacs when he was younger so i was picked immediately for Young Lucius Malfoy.

BH: Have you filmed your scenes for ‘Half-Blood Prince’? In which scenes are you involved?
TC: The scenes have been shot and was at a dinner scene with Professor Slughorn. I have aslo been an extra in Dumbledore’s death scene which was a night shoot.

BH: Who did you work with? Who did you meet?
TC: I acted with Jim Broadbent and was in the death scene with Micheal Gambon, Daniel Radcliffe, Maggie Smith and Robbie Coltrane.

BH: How did you feel participating in a Harry Potter movie?
TC: Its amazing to be in the film and would never have imagined that I would feature in one, even though the part is small, it’s still fantastic fun.

Also, TLC has reported that Jason Isaacs aka Lucius Malfor has shot a quick scene in HBP, although this remains unconfirmed.
